about religion

well, just think about something so i copy it down from my mind.

yesterday, i attended a MIT splash class called"think about religion", and it impetus me to think about something about it.

well, with no doubt, religion, from a long time ago, which is 4,000-5,000 years ago, exactly, is created or in another word, invented to set up the confidence or encourage to face unknown and mysterious.

but as time goes by, the quality of religion has been changed. some people, who is quite smart(i have to admit that) found that something which is related to religion can control people. That's quite a huge power. well, ye know, people who believed in religion are afraid of unknown.Cuz that's one of the instinct of people - Being afraid of unknown things.

i supposed that another reason why people joined the religion is that they are quite afraid of being isolated. They wanna be included or in another word, involved. And if the theme of the group is expended enough so that lots of people are included, they'll feel comfortable. well, the instincts are not a bad idea for the theme of the groups. And, the positive instincts, which can bring people good feelings are not good enough point to be the theme because, well, for example, if a group's theme is eating, the people who is not in the group would think the people inside are not hard-working or something(this part could be found in theory of moral sentiments by Adams Smith). But, by the way, the negative instincts will always awake people's positive sympathy, which is quite interesting and ironic. And the theme of religions is about being afraid of unknown things although nobody concluded it but they knew it in some unconscious parts in their mind. And , yeh, personally, that's the reason i supposed why people joined various religions.

But the only thing i don't know exactly is the relation between power which could control the others and the satisfactions of people. i wanna related the power to the original motion of people but i failed. Anyway, it's just some thoughts.
